Busy, busy, busy

Life has been busy lately. My friend JC gave birth to a beautiful little girl last Thursday. This afternoon they are coming to stay with us for a couple of months. So, I have been busy getting our guest room ready for momma and baby. Her hubby will also be here for a little while. His 2 week leave will be up soon and then he will head back to Iraq. I am so glad he was able to make it home for the birth of his baby.

Well, with all of the baby maddness going on around here. Hubby's parents, as well as mine, seem to be pretty excited. I think they are hoping that having a baby in the house will get us excited about having our own. All of our friends know that while we haven't been actively trying to have a baby, we haven't exactly been preventing it either. We figure when it happens, it happens. We haven't told the parents because we don't want them to know. Other friends have told us that when you do...they start asking you all the time if your pregnant yet. We decided we don't need that from them. We get enough of it from our friends. :) I've already decided that when/if I become pregnant we won't tell our parents for as long as possible. This is because we know they will go nuts over that fact that this will be a first grandbaby for both of them. I am still hoping that my sister-in-law will get pregnant first. She keeps saying she's holding out for us first. I guess time will tell.

Happy Birthday from the Hubby!

I just wanted to say some things about Bashful Blue on her special day. Sometimes, it amazes me how long we’ve known each other, and we still manage to surprise each other with new things to laugh at and little quirks that annoy each other. She can read me like a book, and I can always tell when something bothers her (even if she won’t tell me).

I fell in love with her because she can always make me laugh and because her smile lights up the room. She is the sweetest person I’ve ever met. She earns the “bashful” label whenever we meet new people, but I cherish the moments when she “let’s her hair down” during our alone time. She can’t sing a song in tune to save her life (so I guess American Idol is out), but she is always thinking of others, which makes her very special.

I hope that Bashful Blue has a very special day because she deserves all of the love that the world has to offer and that I can give her.

To quote her favorite line from Old School…

“You’re my boy, Blue! You’re my boy.”

Last Day!

Well, the day has finally come. Today is the last day that I will be 30. It's been a good year. Can't wait to see what the next one brings. I loved being 30. I think tomorrow I will celebrate the 1st anniversary of my 3oth birthday!

Thursday's Highlights

I don't have much to say today. But here are a few highlights of my day.

• Saw a fat man wearing an "I beat anorexia" t-shirt.
• Listened to my hubby and my best friend debate about: hypocrisy, premarital sex, drugs, & marriage.
• Ate a Neiman Marcus cookie. (So yummy!)
• Managed to work the word porn into almost every conversation I had.
• Spent a good 45 minutes trying to decide if someone was a man or a woman. (It was a woman.)
• Overheard a conversation where a woman was meeting some guy at exactly 8:56 p.m. (WTF?)
• Felt really good when hubby said I looked especially cute today!
  
• Got 3 birthday cards in today's mail. No Bills! Woo hoo!
• Thanks to Shanshu's leader test. Found out my best friends are: Mother Teresa, Abe Lincoln and Sadaam Hussein.
  

Job Application Questionnaire/What I wish I could write :)

What is your vision for education?
Learning is the key to success. Education has been very valuable to me. Science taught me how to grow the weed. My math skills helped me to distribute it in the proper quantities and charge accordingly. My Junior Achievement skills taught me how to market my product. And with physics I learned how to build the pipe in which to smoke it.

How well can you judge character? How do you know whether your judgements are correct?
I can look at someone and can instantly tell if they are good in bed. Then, I sleep with them to verify that I am correct.

Should you have close relationships with those with whom you work?
Yes, very intimate. The more intimate the better. A teacher's salary only goes so far.

Would you please describe how you delegate?
I tell you what to do, and you do it. "You will respect my authoritor!"

How important are rules in managing a school? To what extent shoud rules be followed?
Rules suck. I live for anarchy.

What are the best ways to motivate employees?
In the past, I have found that bribes and sexual favors are usually the way to go.

Once you have set your goals, how do you (would you) get your employees to achieve them?
Once again, bribes and sexual favors are the way to go.

Do you like to view yourself as a community leader?
I see myself as more of a creative director. I come up with the great ideas, but I will let someone else take the lead once the idea is out there. I find I can still contribute to the team but at the same time put out minimal effort. Since ideas come easily to me, and I find this to be my best course of action.

If you were to select the team to help you lead a school or a task force, how would you choose them?
First, I would pick my friends: those who are the most fun to work with, great in the sack, etc. Next I would choose the good looking people that I would like to get to know. I always choose 2 people who know what they are doing, after all someone has to get the work done.

How do you develop confidence in the people with whom you work?
I tell them they are/would be great in the sack. This gets their brain pumping which creates a productive team.

Weekend Update

The Hubby took Friday off from work. We had a fun day. Slept late..went swimming all morning, then saw some friends later on that night. Nothing out of the usual.

Saturday, we were woken up around 9 am with a phone call. Our friend had gone into labor. Surprise! Baby was coming early. We get up, get dressed, go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast (yummy) and then make our way to the hospital. I've never seen a "brand new" baby before. She was just a few hours old and she was so cute...I almost wanted to go straight home and start making one of my own. I've always been scared to hold newborns. Once they are at least a year old I'm fine, but newborns have always terrified me. But not this time. I could just hold her all day. Ok, so I was a little scared at first and made Hubby hold the baby first. But once I had her in my arms....that was it. I was hooked.

Later that night we went to dinner party that we had been invited to. We had fun, but once again another late night.

Sunday we managed to sleep in until 11. :) We went to Fry's Electronics for a little while and then back to the hospital to see our friends. Hubby told me on the way home Sunday that he got a little teary eyed seeing me hold the baby and that he can't wait to have a baby of his own. Uh oh! :)
